well as government and state officials to experience the recreational opportunities the
area has to offer. The fishing opener is held the weekend of the opening of the Wisconsin
fishing season. (the first weekend in May) Wisconsin Indian Head Country puts on an Annual
Fun Day Bus Trip in which they visit attractions and businesses in northwest Wisconsin.
Wisconsin Indian Head puts on several Art & Craft Fairs to generate extra revenue
for the organization. For Information on exhibiting in any of these shows, please contact
the Wisconsin Indian Head Country Office.
Aims & Purposes of WIHC
Wisconsin Indian Head Country, Inc. is a non
profit tourist promotion association serving the northwest 22 counties of Wisconsin. The
organization incorporated in 1937 with a membership of 137 businessmen and resort
operators. The present membership/advertisers exceeds 700, including businesses, resorts,
hotel/motels, campgrounds, municipalities, chambers, resort associations, and county
boards.
It has for its purpose, "the development of the vast recreational assets of
northwest Wisconsin, through the execution of a program of advertising, highway
development, conservation, and legislation." All officers, committee members, and
directors of the association serve without pay or financial remuneration of any kind. The
Indian Head organization has, with the exception of administrative expenses, expanded its
funds solely for advertising and publicizing the 22 counties of northwest Wisconsin.
The only salaried personnel of the organization includes the Executive Manager, Office
Manager and Sales Manager.
Advertising and Promotion
As the representative for the northwest side of Wisconsin, the Indian Head group has
established a twelve month program to keep tourism traffic at an all-time high, as well as
increase the competition with recreational regions in the United States who are bidding
strongly for tourist traffic.
To do this, Indian Head has attended Travel & Sport Shows throughout the Midwest,
including St. Paul, Minneapolis, Chicago, Madison, Rockford, Indianapolis, Cedar
Falls/Waterloo, Milwaukee and Rochester.
The value of keeping the Indian Head vacation area before the public is not to be
underestimated. To increase our advertising budget, so that we can continually publicize
our resorts, area attractions and recreational facilities, we will continue to need the
support of every business person and resort operator who shares directly or indirectly
from the $12 billion tourist dollars brought into our cities and villages annually by
travelers.
There is no better investment, for your future, the future of your business, the
prosperity of your community, the economy of northwest Wisconsin, than through maintaining
a membership in Wisconsin Indian Head Country, Inc. and contributing to its effectiveness.
Align yourself with Civic, Business, and Resort leaders of northwest Wisconsin and Join Wisconsin Indian Head Country, Inc.
